FRIDAY RACE SCHEDULE

 May –June  2012

Practice begins at 6:00 PM on Friday evening. Races begin at 7:00

In a return to simpler rules, this schedule incorporates the specs for each race on this page.  There is no longer a separate specs page.

 

IT ALL STARTS HERE!  Definition of a stock t-jet chassis: All electricals are copper, rivets are hollow or solid, commutator brushes are graphite. Pick up shoes are factory issued original stepped ONLY, Original Aurora shoe springs only. The original Aurora armature may have only 2 laminations w/painted grey tips, any color wire and must ohm to 16 ohms or greater. The drive pinion must use a 9 tooth gear. Magnets must be unpainted, unpainted with a white stripe, or white and green, or orange and green.  Green AFX non M/T magnets with saw marks are NG. The tires must be ribbed rubber Aurora issue, minimum diameter .370” before the race. Original Aurora single flanged small plastic rims only, short axle only. Stock black guide pin in ¼” long max, including base. In other words if Aurora didn’t make it, it doesn’t belong on your STOCK chassis.*

 

May 4 - Johnny Lightning/Auto World Thunderjet 500 spec raceThis race allows ONLY JL/AW Thunderjet 500 cars with or without one factory only traction magnet.  NO changes allowed except rear NJN Tuff ones silicones or Super tires Tuff Ones silicones.  We will race this class several times during the season. No balancing of armature for this race.

May 11- IROC Magnasonic race.  I will supply 6 identical cars , each with an original Aurora Magnasonic chassis.  Just bring your entry fee and controller.

May 18 – We have raced t-jets, Mac-Jets and now CRAP-Jets. Remember those great Aurora Hop Up Kits that told you to cut the rear wheel wells and slap on huge hot rod rims and tires.  This race brings back the intention of those kits.  Chassis must be stock t-jet with stock front end (1 1/16”), chrome 4 dimple hot rod rims and hot rod silicone tires on the back (1 5/16”),  12 tooth pinon and matching crown gear (can be Aurora OR aftermarket), any aftermarket t-jet pick up shoes or brushes, Rear wheel wells, of course, can be cut to fit the hot rod rims and tires, body can be lowered to gear plate rail which cannot be cut. Windows, chrome etc must be present and in factory locations. Bodies must be original Aurora.Drilling the chassis for cooling and shunt wires are allowed per the hop up kit.  At the end of the evening there will be a $5.00 prize for the rarest t-jet (as raced tonight) destroyed by some kid as determined by Joe Corea.

May 25 – ECHORR Indy TEAM race – This year we will run this race using ECHORR Indy rules, if you need a copy of the rules they can be obtained at the store or on line at http://www.echorr.com/page18.php.  Two and three man teams are chosen after all entrants complete 4 qualifier laps in a store provided car.  NOTE: this is a different vehicle than used in past Memorial Day races. 

 

June 1 T-jet Dune Buggys  Allowed here are Aurora or Dash,Hot Rods and Aurora or AW Dune Buggys, or Sand Van dune buggys. Cars should be complete with original or similar replacement parts (windshields, roll bars, exhaust pipes etc!  Cars race through obstacles in 4 minute heats. In addition to the above you are allowed long guide pin, glued if you like, slip on silicones, after market commutator brushes/scored okay, axle spacers and chrome 4 dimple hubs only. Maximum width 1 3/16” including tires.  You may sand the back of the wheel to make it fit.

June 8 - Dash Motorsports Lead Sleds –Body may not be trimmed in ANY way, fit the tires under as best you can!  Stock chassis and rims with silicones on rear, Wizzard, AML, BSRT or Slot Tech pick up shoes allowed, FULL long black guide pin allowed/may be glued to chassis, after market commutator brushes allowed/may be scored. Front dress up RRR, Vincent or other PRE approved rims allowed. 1 1/8” .NO OTHER MODS!

June 22 - T-jet Terrors! These are the fastest T-jets we run. You must run a t-jet, Tyco, Dash or Atlas hot rod, Willys, ford coupe or other streetcar modified to dirt track appearance. Cut fenders, screen windshield and chrome motors are allowed and encouraged  ANY of the above modifications allowed PLUS any front rims, independent or fixed, and material, any magnets, any armature 3.1 ohms or greater, any gears, any pick up shoes, lightened and/or lowered bodies, magnet shims and cut gear plate rails. Max width including tires 1 5/16”

June 29- Dash Motor Sports Super Modifieds –Allowed only are Dash Motor Sports or original Aurora Super Modified body COMPLETE (all 8 parts must be used) and a copper chassied original Aurora Thunderjet with Aurora Tuff Ones, JL or MEV rears in the front and 5 spoke AFX rear rims in the rear. Push on axles only. You are allowed long guide pin, glued if you like, slip on silicones, after market commutator brushes/scored okay, axle spacers and after market pick up shoes.  maximum width 1 5/16”

*Note: any race 1 1/8” or wider allows spacers on the front axle only.    Balanced armatures allowed on all EXCEPT stock classes. 

 

THE RACE SCHEDULE FOR MAY/JUNE AND JULY/AUGUST WILL BE AVAILABLE TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF WHEN THEY BEGIN.  LASTLY, IF THE RULES DON’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CAN/T!! 

 

REMINDERS:  No liquids of any kind (oils, comm. drops, tire preps, sodas or what ever) are allowed at the track at race time.  (No drinks in the store anytime)  Maximum wheel width includes wheel AND tires.
